Following on from the enormous success of Construction Expo 07, North Kent Construction Skills is delighted to announce that a bigger and brighter Construction Expo 08 will take place on Wednesday 24th September 08 at the Historic Dockyard Chatham Kent.

NoKCS, in partnership with SkillsGateway and local Medway employer Total Floor Systems, designed a new and innovative two-day training programme for construction lecturers and technicians in FE colleges. The construction industry is changing and increasingly is adopting more modern techniques.

Lecturers from across Kent and Medway were invited to a workshop to update their existing skills by learning how to design and install engineered flooring systems, a system commonly used on newly housing developments. Mark Penny of Total Floor System said that not only was this an opportunity to go some way to address the skills required in a modern construction environment but also a tremendous opportunity to work with local colleges and training providers. Participants said that it had been a tremendous experience and that they were looking forward to sharing their new found knowledge with their students. NoKCS is planning further programmes and wants to hear from any employers who would like to participate in ‘public and private’ training schemes. Contact us now.
